The hot tub temperature varies from scalding to cooler than the pool, everyday it was a different temperature. Termites vs water rot at the bottom of doorways in multiple locations of our second floor hallway. LED pool lights were hanging into the pool. An electrical pool light I observed from our room was constantly flickering. Alarmingly, multiple pool lights hung by wires in the pool. My husband and both got intestinal gastritis by day 4 along with another patron I talked to. The coffee shop was a nice treat, but didn't always have a dairy free milk option and had a service line out the door every morning with only one staff member. I did however have some staff go out of there way to help me which was really refreshing and even go to a different restaurant to bring me back a gluten free dessert. On the subject of gluten free many staff didn't know what was safe for me eat and some didn't even know who to ask or couldn't be bothered. I advised her that I ate lunch at the pool yesterday and the gentleman assured me the the quesadilla was corn and safe for me. The pool/beach staff women was very put out that I asked her for food since I was sitting in a chair near the grill tables, literally a few feet away from the patio chairs at the pool and stated she had nothing gluten free to offer me and declined to offer drink service. The grill staff won't make eye contact and Oceana staff recommended we ask the pool/beach staff. The Oceana staff will only serve you if you sit at one of the 3 or 4 (full) tables, no dress code required. It's July! My husband doesn't even have closed toe shoes or pants!!! I guess we should be thankful we were allowed to eat! We also were not explained the rules about the pool side grill. So again we got to experience rejection for showing up at the buffet in swim shorts and flip-flops (which was what was worn at breakfast at the same location) and we could only eat outside at the French restaurant since my husband didn't have closed toe shoes or pants. She neglected to inform us of the strict dress code for lunches and dinner. There we were met by a high pressure sales women trying to sell us expensive dinner packages and timeshare presentations (when we had already purchased daily food service) and had to reject her offers multiple times before getting the official schedule of where and when we were allowed to eat. The next day after being told we weren't allowed to eat at another restaurant we went back to the lobby to ask about the all inclusive rules, more than $100 a day per person and I don't drink and can't have gluten (which includes almost all desserts, that I expected tho). We found 1122 penciled in since the room number was missing. We decided to take our luggage and find our room ourselves. We returned to the lobby only to find the unhelpful registration desk man who couldn't be bothered to even make eye contact even though there was no one else there. The restaurant we arrived at did not want to serve us since we were not premier members but couldn't seam to figure out what to do with us so disgruntledly allowed us to eat. There wasn't a concierge present, it was only around 6 pm and we were told we could go and eat since we arrived hungry from travel. On check-in the gentleman was less than friendly or helpful. Some of the staff were wonderful and some really tainted the vacation experience. *I usually don't write reviews but our experience ticked some real concerns and made for a less than satisfying guest experience. *So many beautiful and friendly people! I love walking around and saying "buenos dias", "buenas trades" and "buenas noches" to everyone you pass. We were picked up and dropped off by a local dive boat multiple times for dive trips. We spent hours snorkeling and found numerous sea creatures from the shore. Cozumel has one of the best reefs in the world! Another priority for us. You have to choose your access carefully because you are the edge of the reef with lots of limestone. We found the beach to be wonderful and clean. Being right on the ocean is also a priority for us. *Adults only! The main reason we chose this resort! Since we aren't raising small children any more, it's been wonderful going to places where there aren't screaming and crying children.
